6 Women That Inspire The Pure Staff
With International Women’s Day approaching quickly, we’ve been thinking of all of the amazing women from the past that have brought us to where we are now, incredible women that continue to move mountains today.
We want to recognize all women for the battles they fight daily, hard work, and dedication to those around them. Special recognition for mothers first of all; their hearts beat outside their bodies. Mothers do things they didn’t know possible, and live more selflessly than most. And of course grandmothers, because these women love just as deeply as parents but are able to see things from a perspective brought by age and wisdom as they offer guidance. It takes a village!
Here are 6 Women that Inspire the Pure Staff:
One – Against All Odds
The one woman that stands out to Tana is a woman by the name of Emmy Cleaves. Emmy is an 85 year old who’s extremely committed to her daily yoga practice. She survived a brain aneurysm with only a 20% recovery rate expectation. She used yoga to heal her body and beat the odds!
At 85 she is a well oiled yoga machine. She has maintained both her mobility and health because of the Bikram series, and Yoga in general. She is such a great example of how yoga can heal, but also how it supports mental, physical and emotional health. Emmy didn’t start her yoga practice until she was 45, but within 3 months she was able to do the advanced series. Her yoga knowledge, her physical health, and mental well being has been a huge inspiration to Tana. She is a great example of what taking care of your self can result in, and how getting old doesn’t mean becoming immobile. You are never too old or too young, never too sick or too broken to start from scratch. That’s what Emmy did at 45, she took control of her health.
Two – Top Priority
The most inspiring woman for Delray is her mom. Delray’s mom was a single parent who worked a full time job and was a full time student, yet Delray always felt like she was top priority in her mom’s life. Delray never remembers seeing her mother stress over anything. She was a very strong woman who helped Delray realize she could achieve anything she put her mind to. With all of her mom’s encouragement and support, Delray became a strong independent woman who believes in endless possibilities.
Three- Loving Life
A very important inspiring woman to Lindsay would be her Grandma. Her grandma has lived a very difficult life; she came from very little money, she fought the battle of severe alcoholism, fought and beat two rounds of breast cancer, later to suffer from a severe stroke and many broken bones. She remains positive through all of the downs and she continues to be a very positive, life loving person. She loves everyone with her whole heart and is always willing to lend a helping hand. She always volunteers her time whether it is at the Salvation Army, church, or collecting money for the Christmas Kettles.
Four – Family Connection
Dr. Michael would like to recognize his grandmother. She is a woman who always makes you feel like the most important person in the world, and has absolutely unconditional love for family. Modelling a strong marriage, preserving her own space as well as relationship space, while always being welcoming to family and friends, is no small feat for this mother of 5, grandmother of 9, and great grandmother of 13. This strong and never complaining woman managed this day in and day out over the years, seemingly effortlessly. Dr. Michael is continually impressed by how much his grandparents travel and loves sitting down to hear his grandmother’s travel stories. He has learned from his grandmother that if the outcome is fun, it’s okay to be silly and do what makes you happy without caring what others think. Giggles help keep life lighthearted and fun!
Five – Hard Working
Ginny says the most inspiring women in her life are those that are family and friends. She really wanted to recognize her aunt because she is a very positive, hard working woman who is down to earth. Ginny’s aunt continuously reminds those around her to not sweat the small stuff and be true to one’s self.
Six – Unlimited Support
Chase says his mom inspires him for many reasons. His mom was a mother of 6, 5 of which are boys, which in itself is no easy task. All 6 children played a variety of sports, which involved a ton of travel to larger cities such as Edmonton and Calgary on a regular basis. Chase always felt supported through his entire life’s journey and continues to feel supported as she gives advice and help when he needs it the most. Chase’s mom also taught him the importance of living a healthy lifestyle which is one of the reasons he strives to be the healthiest he can be. With her help and unlimited support, Chase feels like he can share his knowledge to help those who are also looking to improve their quality of life through health and wellness.
There are many wonderful women making a difference in the world around us. Women come in many different shapes and sizes, and they live a wide range of lifestyles, some are our mothers and grandmothers who are raising and nurturing the children of the future, some are business women who strive to pave the way for the next generation of women to be able to join the industry, some women are athletes who really push themselves and inspire us to push ourselves to achieve more. Think about the women that impact your life and take the time to recognize them.
